MODELING AGENCY PORTFOLIOS

Modeling agencies are only allowed to make money by referring models into modeling jobs. Some agencies are scams who have no intentions of finding models jobs. They bait models with the promise of modeling jobs and sell them services, such as modeling portfolios, instead.

Models should always have a modeling portfolio and comp cards before going to any modeling agency. This will minimize the risk of being scammed by unethical modeling agencies and modeling agency photo mills which are in business to sell models overpriced modeling portfolios and services instead of finding them modeling jobs. If any modeling book tells models otherwise, models should take a permanent marker and cross out the bad advice. It is unethical, and it is against the law, for modeling and talent agencies to make money from modeling portfolio photography, modeling services, modeling schools, modeling classes, by splitting fees with any business offering modeling services, or by receiving commission or kickbacks from businesses that they refer models to. Models should never buy anything from anyone who an agency refers them to. Any reputable modeling agency should be able to make use of the portfolio and the composite cards that the model invested in before going to the modeling agency.
