MODELING MANAGEMENT COMPANIES
There are modeling management companies out there which offer to help model obtain modeling jobs, but they cannot legally follow through on what they promise to do because they are not a licensed modeling and talent agency. Will they work for free? What is their incentive to follow through on what they promise after you pay them for their services when they cannot make money working to find you work?
There are modeling businesses which offer model management, career development services, and referral to modeling and talent agencies. Models can easily do all of this themselves, dealing with professionals who they check out and choose, without the risk of being scammed, and at a lower cost. These modeling agency placement and consultation companies are risky and overpriced. Models must never allow any business which is not a licensed modeling agency to refer them to modeling agencies or modeling jobs, as the model is associated with that business, and if the business is unethical or a modeling scam, it is know to most agencies in the industry, making the model look bad. You are who you associate with. Additionally, models can easily introduced themselves to a modeling agency, at no cost. Very few modeling consultant businesses are legitimate, and of those, most are not worth the cost. Tampa Bay Modeling has observed many of these modeling management and modeling consultant scams stealing free information from modeling resource sites and free online modeling job boards. The modeling consultation scam then tries to sell the modeling job leads and modeling information which they stole from the free sources to models. The stolen material is used to bait models into buying whatever they are selling. Be safe. Models should do these things on their own, as they do not take the amount of time and effort which would make spending money with one of these companies worthwhile. It's not worth the risk.
