		OPINION MENU - POST OPINION - PREVIOUS - NEXT Sunday, May 7, 2006 Trying Too Hard. Why is it that we see so-called professionals in the industry who try too hard? Could it be that they are insecure and lack the integrity to be honest? Don't say that you're hip and cool when you're not. Don't say that you are professional and have integrity when you don't. Don't name drop reputable people in order to make it look like they endorse you. Most people will see right through the lies and your credibility will be destroyed. Insecure people who have no real clue what they are doing are no benefit to the people that they come in contact with. Confidence comes from experience and associating with other reputable professionals. If you want to work in the modeling industry and make a lifelong career out of it, the first thing that you can be is honest with yourself. Recognize your limitations and work to overcome them. Find out what you are cut out to do and work on that. You won’t only feel good about what you do, but you will be able to respect yourself and the work of other professionals. Also, take criticism constructively. If someone makes a comment about what you are doing, don’t get defensive, as that just shows that you are insecure and unprofessional.
