Plans
For Our Web Site Armada.
In 2007,
our brand new sister site, Tampa Bay Film, became, by far, the fastest
growing site in the history of the Tampa Bay Talent site group, overtaking
our site, Tampa Bay Modeling, and becoming the largest site by the end
of the year.
This will change this year. In 2008, Tampa Bay Modeling will take the
lead once again. Of course, this does not mean that Tampa Bay Film and
Tampa Bay Acting will be as neglected as Tampa Bay Acting was last year.
Each site will see a good amount of updates.
Back in 2001, when Independent Modeling launched as Tampa Bay Independent
Model, it was a lot different. Looking back and at what we have today,
Tampa Bay Modeling has become the site that Independent Modeling aspired
to be back then. The years have proved to be interesting, and Independent
Modeling is going the database / professional marketing/ tutorial/ resource
route, stripped of anything controversial, as most of the things which
were introduced as controversial are now an accepted part of the modeling
industry. Tampa Bay Modeling now has a solid purpose that kind of grafted,
took, and then grew on us. We are the evolution of Tampa Bay Independent
Model, supporting what is to become of Independent Modeling, and we are
on track to becoming one of the most popular modeling web sites ever.
As a matter of fact, some of the original plans that Tampa Bay Independent
Model made back when it launched are now becoming reality for Tampa Bay
Modeling (as many professional models who are now starting a project for
us will confirm in front of thousands of people). We now proudly carry
their torch, and it is brighter than they ever imagined it could be.
A lot is going on here. We are gearing up for a new phase in our fight
to change the modeling industry. Some changes are planned for the Tampa
Bay Modeling web site, too (I'll post about that later).
This month, Tampa Bay Modeling has acquired several domain names for some
of our projects (don't bother looking them up right now, as they have
placeholder indexes placed in their directories by the Eos web team).
Among them are TampaModelingAgency.Com, TampaTalentAgency.Com, and TampaModelSearch.Com.
While we do not have the time or the resources to turn each of these web
sites into large resource web sites which are heavily updated, each of
them will be turned into useful web site resources which will serve a
purpose. Each will become a large series of relevant articles and tutorials
designed to educate the modeling industry and address some professional
issues. The model and talent agency sites, for example, are not our attempt
to start our own modeling agency, and they will not be marketed as an
agency. They will be marketed as a resource addressing model and talent
agencies. Tampa Modeling Agency will become the project of Tampa Bay Modeling,
and Tampa Talent Agency will be run by Tampa Bay Acting, Tampa Bay Film,
and Tampa Bay Photographers. Tampa Model Search will serve a dual purpose
for us. It will be our way of searching for professional models to help
out with Tampa Bay Modeling (especially for an ongoing project which no
model will be able to refuse), and will also address some issues with
all of the shady model searches that you keep hearing advertised on the
radio, on television, and in print. To put it bluntly, we have never,
ever seen any of these model searches work out for anyone. They only seem
to be in business to take money from aspiring models. We intend to upset
the balance of these schemes by introducing a legitimate, professional
alternative to all of the scams.
If you can read between the line you may guess that Tampa Bay Acting will
finally become fully operational this year. They are suddenly as important
as we are as a talent resource, and this year they will see a lot of updates
and growth. Tampa Bay Film will also continue to grow, although nowhere
near the pace that they were at last year. They are established now, and
that kind of support just cannot be maintained. Tampa Bay Film will see
regular updates to their site and additions to their online film festival,
but nowhere near what we will be doing. Tampa Bay Acting will also be
addressing some of the issues that Tampa Bay Film began to address last
year.
Oh, yes, and here is something for all of you Tampa modeling agency owners
to think about. You need to fire your web marketing people. We just snagged
the best domain names possible, and they missed out. The domain names
that we own are the most useful for any modeling agency web marketing
campaign, and now we control them. It may not seem that important now,
but a year from now when EVERYONE is learning that you don't need a modeling
agency to control your career, etc, from us, before they ever find you
on the Internet, it will become very important. We intend to dominate
and control any online resource having anything to do with the Tampa modeling
industry. This will have a pronounced effect on the modeling industry
here for a long, long time.
Go ahead. Fire your web people. Find someone who knows what in the hell
they are doing. If our web people dropped the ball like yours did, we
would be pissed. We would fire them and retire to a quiet corner so we
could weep.
Another thing for you agency people to ponder. Many of you have discounted
Independent Modeling as a has-been attempt that had its day and is now
a failed, abandoned site. This is not true, it is a misconception, and
it will become obvious in the future that they will be larger and more
effective than ever. Independent Modeling has to be completely redone,
and this will take time. It also has to be separated from the other Independent
Sites, and this will take time. Independent Performer will lose its name
and acquire a new one, which will take some work to re-brand their efforts.
The new sites will be based on databasing technology, and, you guess right,
that will take time to code and implement. They should be ready for a
re-launch this fall. Until then, we get extra updates, and something else
may happen, too.
The staff over at Independent Modeling has discovered that their job board
sections are at the top of search engine results for modeling jobs. This
cannot be ignored. It is obvious that job and audition databases are going
to become very important, as Independent Modeling and the Independent
Sites recently acquired a domain name for a massive job and audition board
(I think it is TalentOnlineAuditions.Com). This new site will combine
all of the job and audition boards of the Independent Sites, and will
tie into the new TALON site (TalentOnlineDatabase.Com). As you can see,
the future is going to be interesting.
Independent Modeling decided last week that, while they cannot update
their sites due to work on their new web sites, that they would have to
do emergency updates to their job/ audition boards to build web traffic
that could be infused into the new databases this fall. They are planning
to add jobs to their boards by rigging the listings to bypass the existing
TALON directories, which is a stop-gap band-aid measure, but one which
should prove to be effective. They can't ignore the Internet traffic going
to their boards any longer. Can't wait to see what happens as they update
those boards.
