TFP AND TFCD SCAMS TFP (Time For Print) and TFCD (Time For Compact Disc) offers are supposedly an exchange of services between a model, photographer, and other professionals such as make up artists (MUA). In reality, these free services are offered by amateurs and rarely have any professional participation. They are basically a waste of time for the professional model. Use extreme caution when taking someone up on an offer of free services. Ask yourself what they are getting out of it, verify their references, and make sure that they also make money doing photography. If all that they do is TFP, then something may be very wrong. By themselves, TFP and TFCD offers are not scams. What turns them into scams are when some con artist tries to lure models into some scheme with the promise of free pictures. Very rarely is something worth anything given away for nothing; there is always a price. Models who are tricked into working with a criminal with the promise of free services may end up paying lots of money for useless pictures, could end up exploited, or could even find themselves the victims of a crime such as rape or murder. Always bring along a friend to any TFP arrangement and make sure that you are working with a legitimate professional! Most professionals prefer to collaborate with established professionals and do not offer free services to new models who do not have a professional modeling portfolio. Scams listed here are not limited to models, and different types can be easily combined for new types of scams. If you cannot CLARIFY their intentions and VERIFY their references, go somewhere else to do business. It's professionally responsible to do so and lowers your risk. There are lots of great companies out there, like our advertisers and the companies in our resource sections, who are not scams. You owe it to your career to shop around and be selective.
