MODELING SCHOOLS WORTH IT?

Many
people who want to become models consider modeling schools.
Don’t.
The national chains of modeling schools are complete wastes of time, in
our opinion. The ones which are not modeling scams are such poor values,
that we cannot recommend them. Many modeling schools these days have expanded
their classes as a sort of finishing school, a school which offers acting
and talent classes, or other career and "self-esteem-building"
courses, but even then, they are not worth it. There are at least three
“big name” modeling schools in the Tampa Bay area, and we
recommend staying away from them. Worse yet, at least one of them has
been running commercials on the radio advertising modeling and talent
jobs. When a modeling school advertises modeling jobs to use as
bait so aspiring models are lured in so that they can be sold classes,
this is wrong. This is, in our opinion, a deceptive trade practice,
or deceptive marketing. Deceptive marketing is known as bait and switch,
and it is fraud. Fraud is a crime, and deceptive marketing is what makes
a modeling school a modeling scam!
Remember that a modeling school is not a modeling agency. To be a modeling
agency, you have to be licenced as a modeling in talent agency; here in
Florida, the license is issued as a TA# through the Florida Department
Of Business and Professional Regulation (See Florida
modeling agency laws. Also, check out our list of Tampa
modeling agencies, if a modeling agency is what you are looking
for. Read our section on Tampa
modeling agencies first, however, to be safe). Since
it is against the law for any modeling agency in Florida to sell modeling
classes, obviously, a modeling school and a modeling agency are not the
same thing. A modeling school, in our opinion, is an overpriced
school which trains aspiring models in mostly useless things.
Modeling schools make their money selling models classes. A modeling agency,
on the other hand, works for a model, finding them modeling job leads
and making their money by referring models into jobs.
Any modeling schools advertising modeling jobs have a high, and in our
opinion, a certain risk of being modeling scams (they are, after all,
NOT agencies, and are not in business to find models work). We
have not been able to find a single legitimate modeling school which advertises
modeling jobs. If you must attend a modeling school, make sure
that they are at least honest about what they are really selling. If they
have to trick you in order for you to contact them, can you trust them?
Additionally, some of these modeling schools which advertise modeling
jobs will give you a “discount” for their classes and other
services for models to book the “job”. This is no
substitute for pay, and it’s not worth it! Even with the “discount”,
the modeling school is still a rip-off; if they discount the scam, you
are still being scammed, and they will even find other ways, with hidden
fees and additional "services", to make that money back and
to scam you more!
In the Tampa Bay area, there is at least one modeling school which is
aggressively advertising modeling jobs, and claiming that “no experience
is needed” for models to book those modeling jobs. If the modeling
job is worthwhile, experience will be required! So, are they supposed
to give you the experience which is needed when you attend their modeling
school?
Don’t get scammed! See more about this at Tampa
Modeling Job Scams, and check out one of our Tampa modeling
job warnings are Tampa
fashion models are needed for a major department store fashion show
on Independent Modeling!
There is not a single modeling school in the Tampa Bay area which is worth
your time or your money, in our opinion. Besides, you have us.
Tampa Bay Modeling is a free online modeling resource site, and the modeling
information found here on this site, and on Independent Modeling, is better,
and more useful, than anything found at a so-called modeling school or
any modeling books which are out there.
With Tampa Bay Modeling and Independent Modeling, you really don’t
need any modeling school.
